Of current importance08.06.2012 The main purpose of this project, which began in December 2009, is to develop mechanisms and procedures for an independent evaluation of Russian universities and their programs, stimulate competition for the growth of "intellectual capitalization" of Russian universities, and make them more competitive on the world educational and research scale. The National rating for 2011-2012 academic year includes 105 universities, including 76 traditional universities and 29 national research universities. The rating of universities is topped by Lomonosov Moscow State University. The authors of the National university rating traditionally compose an annual rating of "industry" universities. This year, they created a rating of universities that are in the area of responsibility of the country‘s transport agencies. The rating comprises 20 universities and is topped by the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT). Universities were evaluated using six key parameters:
The evaluation was conducted on the basis of information contained in questionnaires filled out by representatives of the universities, public information posted by universities on their official sites, and several information systems including those of Rospatent, Roststat, and the text information database SCAN.
