News13.08.2014 All the life and work of Boris L. Agranovich was connected with Tomsk Polytechnic University, which he graduated with degree in Radioengineering in 1962. Up to 1981 Boris Lvovich worked in Tomsk Institute of Radio Electronics and Electronic Engineering as Assistant, Senior Lecturer (1968), Associate Professor (1968), Dean (1970-1974) of the Faculty of Radioengineering. Since 1991 he held different positions at Tomsk Polytechnic University: Associate Professor and then Professor of Department of Control Systems Optimization , deputy director of the Cybernetics Centre, director of the West-Siberian Regional Centre for Social and Information Technologies. From 1988 to 1995 he was the Chief designer of the Basic Automated Control Systems for the Higher School of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Russian Soviet Republic - ACS VUZ. Being the Vice-President of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia he was also one of the founders and executive editor of the AEER journal "Engineering Education." Professor Agranovich was a brilliant scientist, a scholar of the highest level, a man of high culture. His name is widely known in Russia and abroad as an outstanding expert for his research in the higher education area, new information technologies, and the supervisor's work on the methodological problems of the design of human-machine systems, engineering, development of specific management systems in engineering, education, training and economics. Recognition of scientific results was proved by his appointment in 1986 as the Chief designer of the Basic Automated Control Systems for the Higher School of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR, and in 1989 - the chief designer of the Integrated Automated Control Systems for the Higher School of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR. Under his leadership for the first time an Automated Control Systems for the Higher School of the Ministry of Higher Education was designed and implemented. Significant results were achieved by him in studying problems of higher engineering education. For the development of scientific bases of university engineering education and their implementation in the Russian universities Boris Lvovich Agranovich became the Laureate of the Russian Federation President's Award in the field of education (1998). He also was the Laureate of the Tomsk oblast Administration's Award in the field of science and education (1995), Laureate of the Award of Tomsk Oblast Committee of the All-Union Leninist Communist League of Youth (1970) "For the development and implementation of precision instruments for the phase measurement." Professor Agranovich was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor" (1970), the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2d class (1996), Silver Medal "For Merit for Tomsk Polytechnic University" (1998), Jubilee medal "400 Years of Tomsk" (2004). He was given the honors "Honored Worker of Higher School" (2000), “Honory Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation" (2005). Of course, he made an inestimable contribution to the work done within the last 15 years by the Association for Engineering Education of Russia in the development of engineering education and engineering. In 2011 Professor Agranovich was awarded the highest award of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia the Medal of Peter the I "For the Development of Engineering Profession and Education". We have lost not only a great scientist and professional but a very great and wise man, attentive and caring colleague, reliable partner and good friend. Administrative Board and members of the Association for Engineering Education of Russia mourn the loss of Professor Agranovich and express deep and heartfelt condolences to the sorrowing family and friends. Boris Lvovich Agranovich will forever remain as a brilliant scientist, talented and inspiring leader, kind and generous person in the hearts of his students, colleagues and all of us, who were privileged to know him and work together. |
