Materials of the International Seminar
Dear Colleagues,
Association for Engineering Education of Russia together with St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University and Tomsk Polytechnic University organise an international seminar for rectors of leading Russian and European universities of technology “Joint international programmes in education and research: Cooperation of universities in the global academic community”, in St. Petersburg, on 28-29 May 2013.
The world is moving towards the knowledge-based economy and competition is correspondingly shifted from the competition for capital to the competition for knowledge. On the one hand, each research group has its own internal environment which is rather specific. On the other hand, mobility of students as well as young researchers is a distinguishing feature of the modern higher education system. This requires some common approaches in order to facilitate their adaptation to new environments as parts of international education programmes and research groups. In the seminar participants will be able to discuss and compare how such activities are organised at European and Russian universities of technology.
Leaders of European and Russian universities of technology are invited to exchange best practices and ideas on innovative strategies of international collaboration, as well as to discuss also problems they have faced. Participants will jointly define potential priorities and topics of mutual interest.
The main objectives of the seminar are to:
promote cooperation between leading Russian and European universities of technology by highlighting good practices of mutual benefit;
facilitate an exchange of ideas and information on international education and research programmes and approaches to stimulate student and researchers’ mobility; and
discuss global societal issues with a view to identifying priorities for future EU-RU cooperation in education and research.
The meeting will provide a unique opportunity for all participants to establish new contacts with experts and colleagues from Russia and Europe.
